- The harmful use of alcohol is a global problem which compromises both individual and social development. It results in 2.5 million deaths each year. It also causes harm far beyond the physical and psychological health of the drinker. It harms the well-being and health of people around the drinker.
- Emergency room doctors are now being trained on screening patients that are coming in for alcohol abuse problems; this creates an opportunity for these physicians to be actively involved in helping to reduce the growing rate of alcoholism within the community.
- A study of 1,872 teenagers and young adults aged 15 to 26 found that the number of ads a person reported viewing correlated with the amount of alcohol they consumed.
- The American Automobile Association (AAA) said that teens who has 4 to 6 drinks are 90 times more likely to die in a crash than a sober driver.
